We are thrilled to announce the successful restart of production at our Wigtownshire yogurt factory! Thanks to a dedicated team and the support of South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE), Rowan Glen yogurt will once again grace Scottish shelves.
This exciting development follows a management buyout led by Alan Baxter, a passionate advocate for the brand and its local roots. Recognising the closure’s impact on staff and customers, Alan (previously the Factory Manager at the site) has spearheaded the effort to reactivate production.
Yogurt production is back up and running once again at our Palnure factory near Newton Stewart as of February 2023. Fuelled by not only the dedication of our team, with ten initial positions already filled, we set our sights on expanding and reaching 45 within five years, fostering growth and opportunity within our community.
Furthermore, this restart signifies the acquisition of both the production plant and the revered Rowan Glen brand, solidifying our position as a top 25 take-home food and drink brand in Scotland. This wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE), whose £285,000 grant served as a testament to their dedication to regional economic development.
We are truly humbled by the collaborative spirit of Dale Farm Group, the unwavering guidance of SOSE, and the unwavering loyalty of our incredible customers. This journey marks a new chapter for Rowan Glen, one brimming with optimism and a commitment to delivering high-quality yogurt, supporting our local economy, and embracing constant innovation while staying true to our cherished heritage. We look forward to sharing this delicious journey with you, every step of the way!
